Update for the Week of 4/27/20 – 5/1/20

This week is our 5th week of on-line learning with at least a couple more to go to get us to May 15th.

The end of last week and over this past weekend was to be the trip to Tennessee.  I couldn’t help but think about what we would have been doing throughout the weekend.  Then today would have been the Symphonic Band’s big day at State Band Festival.

This week, the Symphonic and Concert Bands will continue to  review their grade level Exam Scales and working on some of their music in a digital format via an online platform.  The details were in the Classroom post for their particular ensemble two weeks ago.  They will also continue to practice their compositions.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!

Update for the Week of 4/20/20 – 4/24/20

This week is week 4 of on-line learning, and several more to go after learning on Friday that we will be out for an extended period of time that will take us to at least May 15th.  This means that we will not be able to perform our Spring Concert that was scheduled for May 7th.

Last Tuesday, the Band Booster Scholarship application was sent via email to all eligible Seniors.  It is due by May 5th.  More details about submitting the completed application will forthcoming.

As of last week there were still a couple folks that had not yet reached out to Mrs. Lewis to complete the refund process for the Tennessee Trip.  If you have not done this, then please provide the following information: parents/guardians name, student’s name, mailing address, and a contact phone number, in an email to Mrs. Lewis at qachsbandboosters.treasurer@gmail.com.

Update for the Week of 4/13/20 – 4/17/20

This week we are on our fourth week away from school and our third week of on-line learning.  We will only have another four day week this week due to our last day of Spring Break being today.  On Tuesday, we will resume our on-line learning model for a third week.  As as follow-up to my post last week, I just have the same couple of thoughts to share with you.

1) Tennessee Trip – Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to reach out to Mrs. Lewis with the requested information so that she could begin the refund process on the monies that had been paid in on the Tennessee Trip.  She had heard from most parents by the end of last week.  There were just a few that she had not, and she sent that list to me.  I then sent a message to those students via email letting them know that we still needed that information.  If you have not had the chance to reach out to Mrs. Lewis to get this process started for you, please do so by providing the following information: parents/guardians name, student’s name, mailing address, and a contact phone number, in an email to the booster treasurer at qachsbandboosters.treasurer@gmail.com.

2) On-Line Learning – This week, the Symphonic and Concert Bands will be reviewing their grade level Exam Scales and taking a look at some of their music in a digital format via an online platform.  More details will be in this week’s Classroom post for their particular ensemble.  They will also take time to practice their compositions that they wrote last week.

Update for the Week of 4/6/20 – 4/10/20

This week we are on our third week away from school and our second week of on-line learning.  Even though we have been away from school for the past three weeks and are currently operating under the on-line learning model, we will still only have a four day learning week this week as we will still observe Friday as one of our previously scheduled days of Spring Break.  We will also do the same next Monday.  Below are some updates for this week.

1) Tennessee Trip – We received our deposit back from the hotel that we were to stay in while in Tennessee.  As a result we have now confirmed a full refund on all monies that we had paid out for the trip.  Therefore, we will be able to give a full refund back on any funds that were paid in on the trip; however, any money that was taken out of the student trip accounts will be deposited back into those same accounts.  To aid in the refund process, we are asking parents/guardians to please email the booster treasurer at qachsbandboosters.treasurer@gmail.com and provide your name, student’s name, mailing address, and a contact phone number.

2) On-Line Learning – This week, the Symphonic and Concert Bands will be wrapping up their listening review of the judges’ comments from District Band Festival.  Once that is complete today, they will then complete a composition assignment that will take care of the rest of the week.
