Update for the Week of 4/15/24 – 4/19/24

Congratulations to the 4 students who represented QACHS Saturday evening as members of the 2024 Senior All-Shore Honors Band! It was an outstanding evening of live music presented by both the Junior and Senior bands at Easton High School as the Junior Band celebrated 45 years and the Senior Band, 60 years.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances on the Spring Concert next week and in Tennessee in two weeks.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in three weeks for the 2024 QACHS Night of Jazz.

The final trip information packet went home with everyone on Tuesday.  Included in this packet are the final details letter and the Emergency Medical Form.  The Emergency Medical Form needs to be filled out and returned by the end of next week so that we can get them all organized in the medical binder that we are required to carry.  Each person attending the trip must have one of these forms turned in and included.

The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances on the Spring Concert in two weeks as well as in Tennessee in three weeks.  The Marching Band will continue its preparations for its performances on the Spring Concert, at the Parade Review in Tenessee, and the Chestertown Tea Party Parade.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in four weeks for the QACHS Night of Jazz.  Thursday we will have the April Band Parents meeting where we will go over details for the trip to TN at the beginning of next month.  Below is the schedule for the All-Shore Rehearsals on Friday and Saturday as well as the concert, all being held at Easton High School.

This week we are enjoying a much-needed week off for spring break after the busy weeks that we have had over the past couple of months.  This will give us a chance to recharge just a bit and be ready for the final push into the end of this year.   We have a busy set of weeks coming up as we work to get ready for the Spring Concert, the trip to Tennessee, and our Night of Jazz.  We will then begin to shift gears and look forward to the excitement of what next year can bring as we begin our spring clinics and training camps for the 2024-2025 Marching Lions Band.

Congratulations once again to the 4 students who earned a chair in the 2024 Sr. All-Shore Honors Band this past Saturday at Bennett Middle School.  During our Symphonic and Concert Band classes, our small ensembles continue to prepare for Solo and Ensemble Festival and the large ensemble for District Festival.  The Pit Orchestra will continue their preparations for the musical after school and will add President’s Day to our schedule due to that being made an instructional day.  Thursday we will have our February Band Parents meeting.

2024 All-Shore Audition Results

Today, QACHS had 4 members of the QACHS Lions Band who traveled to Bennett Middle School in Fruitland, Maryland to audition for a spot in the 2024 All-Shore Honors Band.
Here are our results:
4th Chair Flute – Averie M.
6th Chair Flute– Theo K.
8th Chair Trumpet – Lincoln P.
2nd Chair French Horn – Everett J.*
*Everett J. also auditioned on the Trumpet in addition to the French Horn and made a chair placement on that instrument as well, but chose to take the French Horn position.

Students are off for another day today, as teachers are involved in Professional Development.  Tomorrow we will begin our second-semester classes and have a make-up day for the midpoint assessments for Hybrid 1 classes we missed last Tuesday.  Looking at the week as a whole, we will continue our preparations for Solo and Ensemble Festival, District Band Festival, and the Musical.  As a result of the latest snowstorm, All-Shore Auditions were postponed from this past Saturday to this coming Saturday.  All of the times and details will remain the same.

Update for the Week of 1/15/24 – 1/20/24

This week the students have a short three-day week due to being off today for MLK Day and then off again on Friday due to Teacher Professional Development.  However, at the same time, it will be a busy week because we will finish up the first semester with final exams.  Tomorrow, we will stay in our first hybrid classes for all of third period, as it will only be the midpoint of the year for those courses, and will allow for the midpoint assessments.  On Wednesday we will have the final exams for periods 1 and 2 with a 1:00 dismissal.  On Thursday will be the exams for periods 3 and 4 and the midpoint assessments for the Hybrid 2 classes with another early dismissal day at 1:00 PM.  We will only have a Pit Orchestra rehearsal after school on Tuesday due to the fact that it will be the only regular dismissal day.  In both of the classes during the day, we will continue our preparations for Solo and Ensemble Festival and District Band Festival. This coming Saturday will be All-Shore auditions at Bennett M.S. in Fruitland, MD.  Students will need to arrive for check-in at 9:00 AM and be checked in by 10:00 AM.

Next week the kids will be off again on Monday for the second Teacher Professional Development Day.  The second Semester will begin on Tuesday.

Congratulations to all of the members of the 2023 Senior All-Shore Honors Band, including those from QACHS, that was under the direction of guest conductor, Dr. Christopher Heffner, this past Saturday. It was an outstanding afternoon of Music presented by both the Junior and Senior bands.  Thank you to those parents that helped out on Friday and Saturday making everything run so successfully.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their performances in Williamsburg, Virginia next week and the Spring Concert in two weeks.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in three weeks for the 18th Annual QACHS Night of Jazz.

Today is our last day of Spring Break.  When we return tomorrow, we will have a busy week ahead as we look forward to hosting all of the members of the 2023 Jr. and Sr. All-Shore Bands as they rehearse throughout the day on Friday and again Saturday morning with the concert late Saturday afternoon.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances in Virginia in two weeks as well as the Spring Concert in three weeks.  The Marching Band will continue its preparations for their performances at the Parade Review in Virginia, on the Spring Concert, and the Chestertown Tea Party Parade.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in four weeks for the QACHS Night of Jazz.  Thursday we will have the April Band Parents meeting where we will go over the final details for the All-Shore events this week as well as the trip to VA at the end of the month.  Below is the schedule for All-Shore Rehearsals on Friday and Saturday as well as the concert.

Congratulations once again to the three students who earned a chair in the 2023 Sr. All-Shore Honors Band this past Saturday at Bennett Middle School.  This week we will have our first full week of the second semester.  During our Concert and Symphonic Band classes, we are going to continue working on Ensemble music for Solo and Ensemble Festival on Tuesdays and Thursdays while also continuing to work as large ensembles on the music for District Festival on the other days.  This will allow us to prepare adequately for all of our upcoming performances.  The Pit Orchestra will continue its preparations for the musical after school.  Thursday we will have our February Band Parent meeting in which we will have several things to discuss concerning the various evenings that we have coming up.
