Update for the Week of 8/26/19 – 8/30/19

This week is the last week of summer break for the students which also means that we will have our last Wednesday night Marching Band Rehearsal before school starts.

Wednesday night will also be the Back to School night for QACHS.  It is scheduled to be from 5:00 to 6:30 PM.  This will allow parents to meet their student’s teachers prior to the first day of school next week.

Just a reminder that we will begin our after school rehearsals from 2:30 – 5:00 next Tuesday in which it will be a sectional day for all members.  All upperclassmen members will need to be sure that they report in for that rehearsal at 2:30.  Thursday and Friday will be our full rehearsals with a rehearsal day on Saturday from 9AM to 5PM.  Percussion and Color Guard will report in at an announced earlier time.

Update for the Week of 8/19/19 – 8/23/19

We are down to only two weeks before school starts again. Just another reminder that all students will have rehearsal at 2:30 on Tuesday, September 3rd. Be sure to make arrangements now in order to be there that day.  Also a reminder that the rehearsal on Saturday, September 7th, will be a 9AM – 5PM rehearsal.

Update for the Week of 8/12/19 – 8/16/19

We had an outstanding two weeks of camp the past two weeks and I am very proud of all the hard work that went into doing all that was accomplished in both the rehearsals and the final performance.  This week we will perform for the Queen Anne’s County Fair Opening Ceremonies as well as lead the Fair Parade through the 4-H Park.  On Wednesday, we will resume our Wednesday Night Rehearsals from 6 – 9 PM.  There will also be a TOB Meeting at 6PM on Wednesday evening as well.

Here is what our schedule looks like this week:

Monday – Queen Anne’s County Fair Performances

  • Report time is 5:30 PM
  • Dress is Green Band Shirt, Blue Jeans (no holes), and Sneakers
  • We will perform at 6:45 PM in the Horse Ring
  • Will will lead the fair parade through the 4-H Park after the ceremonies conclude.
  • If you are not going to return on the bus after the performances, then you must turn in the travel release form before we leave the school and can be found and downloaded from here.
  • If you do leave from the fair, you must take your instrument with you.
  • For those that will return to the school after we perform, you can expect to be back between 8:00 – 8:30 PM.

Update for the Week of 8/5/19 – 8/9/19

This week the Marching Lions Band goes through their second week of  Band Camp 2019.  Over the past week, the members of the Marching Lions have enjoyed participating in “Spirit Day” themes by dressing up to represent each day’s theme.  The student leadership team has been reaching out to our various businesses in the community and getting their support for a raffle to be held at the end of this week.  Each day the staff  has recognized students for their outstanding work one the field in the morning or in the afternoon rehearsals by giving them a ticket to enter into the raffle drawing to get a chance to pick a prize.  If there are any family business owners that would like to support the leadership team with a donation to their raffle or any individual that would like to contribute, the students would be most grateful.  We have asked the businesses that they have been in contact with if they would donate a gift card, gift certificate, or special discount coupons for their business.  We have encouraged gift cards or gift certificates to be $5 or $10 with the hopes that multiple cards or certificates of the smaller amounts might be donated.  We have received several donations from businesses in the community in the form of the cards, certificates, and actual merchandise already, and hope more will come in this week in order to provide a great reward opportunity for our students for all of their hard work during the two week camp.

Looking ahead to next week, we will return back to our Wednesday night rehearsals from 6:00-9:00PM.
