Update for the Week of 4/24/23 – 4/30/23

This week we have a very busy but exciting week as we hold “B” Lunch combined rehearsals for the Combined Concert Band members that will be a part of this ensemble in Williamsburg on Friday.  Today we will have our last Marching Band rehearsal in preparation for their performance on Saturday.  The Jazz Band will have its first of the last two regular Jazz Band rehearsals in preparation for the QACHS Night of Jazz in two weeks.

Looking ahead to next week, we will have our Spring Concert at 7:00 PM on Thursday.

Here is what our schedule looks like this week:

Monday – Marching Band Rehearsal (After school)

Tuesday – Jazz Band Rehearsal  (After school)

Wednesday – No After School Rehearsal

Thursday – Depart for Newport News, VA @ 1:00 PM

Friday – Visit Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin in the AM
Combined Concert Band Performance at Bruton HS, Williamsburg, VA @ 5:15 PM

Saturday – Marching Band Performance at Bruton HS, Williamsburg, VA @ 9:10 AM
Spend the day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Sunday – Return from Virginia @ about 1:30 PM.

Update for the Week of 4/17/23 – 4/21/23

Congratulations to all of the members of the 2023 Senior All-Shore Honors Band, including those from QACHS, that was under the direction of guest conductor, Dr. Christopher Heffner, this past Saturday. It was an outstanding afternoon of Music presented by both the Junior and Senior bands.  Thank you to those parents that helped out on Friday and Saturday making everything run so successfully.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their performances in Williamsburg, Virginia next week and the Spring Concert in two weeks.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in three weeks for the 18th Annual QACHS Night of Jazz.

The final trip information packet was sent home with all the students that will be attending before spring break.  Included in this packet is the Emergency Medical Form that needs to be filled out and returned by the end of this week so that we can get them all organized in our medical binder that we are required to carry.  Each person attending the trip must have one of these forms turned in and included.

Update for the Week of 4/10/23 – 4/15/23

Today is our last day of Spring Break.  When we return tomorrow, we will have a busy week ahead as we look forward to hosting all of the members of the 2023 Jr. and Sr. All-Shore Bands as they rehearse throughout the day on Friday and again Saturday morning with the concert late Saturday afternoon.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances in Virginia in two weeks as well as the Spring Concert in three weeks.  The Marching Band will continue its preparations for their performances at the Parade Review in Virginia, on the Spring Concert, and the Chestertown Tea Party Parade.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in four weeks for the QACHS Night of Jazz.  Thursday we will have the April Band Parents meeting where we will go over the final details for the All-Shore events this week as well as the trip to VA at the end of the month.  Below is the schedule for All-Shore Rehearsals on Friday and Saturday as well as the concert.

This week we are enjoying a much-needed week off for spring break after the busy weeks that we have had over the past couple of months.  This will give us a chance to recharge just a bit and be ready for the final push into the end of this year.   We have a busy set of weeks coming up as we work to get ready for the trip to Virginia, the Spring Concert, and our Night of Jazz.  We will then begin to shift gears and look forward to the excitement of what next year can bring as we begin our spring clinics and training camps for the 2023-2024 Marching Lions Band.
