Update for the Week of 1/30/23 – 2/3/23

Congratulations once again to the three students who earned a chair in the 2023 Sr. All-Shore Honors Band this past Saturday at Bennett Middle School.  This week we will have our first full week of the second semester.  During our Concert and Symphonic Band classes, we are going to continue working on Ensemble music for Solo and Ensemble Festival on Tuesdays and Thursdays while also continuing to work as large ensembles on the music for District Festival on the other days.  This will allow us to prepare adequately for all of our upcoming performances.  The Pit Orchestra will continue its preparations for the musical after school.  Thursday we will have our February Band Parent meeting in which we will have several things to discuss concerning the various evenings that we have coming up.

Update for the Week of 1/23/23 – 1/28/23

There is no school for students today and tomorrow as teachers are involved in professional development on both days.  On Wednesday, we will then begin the second semester.  This coming Saturday will be All-Shore auditions at Bennett M.S. in Fruitland, MD.  Students will need to arrive for check-in at 9:00 AM and be checked in by 10:00 AM.

Monday – No School – Professional Development

Tuesday – No School – Professional Development

Wednesday – Pit Orchestra Rehearsal (2:35 – 4:45)

Thursday – Pit Orchestra Rehearsal (2:35 – 4:45)

Friday – No After School Rehearsals.

Saturday – All-Shore Auditions at Bennett M.S. in Fruitland, MD.  Students need to report for check-in at 9:00 AM. and must be checked in by 10:00AM.

Update for the Week of 1/16/23 – 1/20/23

Today we are off for MLK Day, giving us an extended 3-day weekend.  The end of this week will bring the end of the first semester as the semester courses’ final exams will be given for Periods 1 and 2 on Thursday and 3 and 4 on Friday.  On both of these days, there will be an early dismissal at 12:45.  For the two days that we will meet during class and after school, we will continue our preparations for Solo and Ensemble Festival, District Band Festival, and “The Wizard of Oz”.

Tuesday – Pit Orchestra Rehearsal (2:35 – 4:45)

Wednesday – Hybrid 1 Classes – Mid-Term Exam (Students will stay in their 1st Hybrid for all of 3rd period)
Pit Orchestra Rehearsal (2:35 – 4:45)

Thursday – No After School Rehearsals – 12:45 PM Student Dismissal (Pd. 1 and 2 Semester Exams)

Friday – No After School Rehearsals – 12:45 PM Student Dismissal (Pd. 3 and 4 Semester Exams / Hybrid 2 Mid-Term Exam)

Update for the Week of 1/9/23 – 1/13/23

This week is our last full week of the first semester.  Next week will be a four day week due to MLK Day on Monday and will also be the start of Mid-term exams for the Hybrid classes and Final Exams for the Fall Semester on Thursday and Friday.  This week we have the HSA tests going on.

Just a reminder that all All-Shore Pre-registrations are due to Mr. Wright with the necessary registration fee on Friday.  We will also be finalizing our registrations for Solo and Ensemble Festival in class on Tuesday.

Update for the Week of 1/2/23 – 1/6/23

This week we get back into the swing of things as we return from Winter Break. The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue with their preparations for District Band Festival in March and the small ensembles will continue their preparations for Solo and Ensemble Festival next month. We will hold our full ensemble rehearsals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and use our rehearsal time on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our small ensembles. We will also begin our rehearsals with the Pit Orchestra getting ready for the Spring Musical production of The Wizard of Oz that will run the first two weekends in March.  There will also be a Band Parent Meeting on Thursday evening this week where we will hold elections for new officers.
