Update for the Week of 5/30/22 – 6/3/22

This week we have to say “good bye” to our Seniors as they graduate on Wednesday morning.  We will also welcome the new incoming Freshmen as they join us for the Marching Band Mini-Camp nights on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  The Concert and Symphonic Band Members will also continue to enjoy playing more new songs as they continue to sight read each day.

Here is what our schedule looks like this week:

Monday – NO SCHOOL! MEMORIAL DAY!!

Tuesday – No After School Rehearsals.
2022 Marching Band Mini Camp 6-8PM at QACHS (Leadership Team Meeting @ 5:30PM)

Wednesday – Class of 2022 Graduation @ 10AM
No After School Rehearsals.
2022 Marching Band Mini Camp 6-8PM at QACHS (End of Mini-Camp Student and Parent meeting @ 7PM)

Thursday – No After School Rehearsals.

Friday – No After School Rehearsals.

Update for the Week of 5/23/22 – 5/28/22

This week will be our last week with our Seniors that will conclude with a half day on Friday and a 12:00PM dismissal.  Today, we have our final marching band rehearsal.  Wednesday will be our Awards Day during each class, 3rd period. We will also have our leadership interviews and auditions after school on Wednesday followed by our Annual Percussion and Color Guard Clinic Wednesday evening.  On Thursday, the Seniors will take their written Final Exam and everyone else will take the mock exam.   Saturday, the Marching Lions will march the Chestertown Tea Party Parade in Chestertown at 10:00 AM.

Looking ahead to next week, we will have our 2022 Marching Lions Band Mini-Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  The end of mini-camp parents meeting will be held at 7:00PM on Wednesday.

This week we continue our push to the end of the year as we continue our playing exams during class time.   As we look ahead to next week, there will be a Marching Band Rehearsal for the Tea Party Parade on Monday.  We will have our awards day during each band’s class time on Wednesday.  Also on Wednesday, the Marching Band Leadership Interviews and Auditions will be held after school with the Percussion and Color Guard Clinic from 6 – 8PM that evening.  Seniors will take their written exam on Thursday.  The Marching Band will march in the Chestertown Tea Party Parade on Saturday.  The following week, we will have the first nights of Mini Band Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Update for the Week of 5/9/22 – 5/13/22

This week we continue our push to the end of the year.  We will begin our playing exams on Wednesday as a part of the upcoming final exams.  At the same time we will be preparing for the written exam, by reviewing and studying the concepts together in each of the ensembles classes.  In the evenings this week we have the Jazz Concert on Tuesday and a Band Parent Meeting on Thursday.

Looking ahead: In two weeks our final Marching Band rehearsal will be held on Monday, May 23rd for the Chestertown Tea Party Parade on Saturday.  We will have our awards day during each band’s class time on Wednesday, May 25th.  Also on Wednesday, May 25th,  the Marching Band Leadership Interviews and Auditions will be held after school with the Percussion and Color Guard Clinic from 6 -8PM that evening.  Then the seniors will take their final exam on Thursday, May 26th. The following week, we will have the first nights of Mini Band Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  The 2022 QACHS Graduation will be at 10:00AM on Wednesday as well, and the rest of the students will have an Asynchronous day that day.

Update for the Week of 5/2/22 – 5/6/22

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands will have a combined rehearsal during “B” Lunch today and tomorrow, dress rehearsal during 3rd period on Wednesday, and the Spring Concert at 7:30PM on Thursday.  The Marching Band will have rehearsal on Monday and Wednesday as well as participate in the Spring Concert on Thursday.  The Jazz Band will only have rehearsal on Tuesday as they prepare for their own concert next week.

Looking ahead to next week, we will have the 17th Annual Queen Anne’s County Night of Jazz on Tuesday at 7:00PM in the QACHS Café and will feature the CMS Jazz Ensemble and the QACHS Jazz Ensemble.  On Thursday evening at 7:00 will be the May Band Parents meeting.
