Update for the Week of 10/31/11 – 11/4/11

Congratulations once again to the Marching Lions Band for an outstanding finish at the 2011 Atlantic Coast Championships.  This week the band will give their final field show performance at home on Friday night at the QA vs KI Football Game.  The Concert Band is putting their finishing touches on the music that they will be playing for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony in front of the Courthouse downtown Centreville next week.  Next week, we will also begin Jazz Band rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays in preparation for the Winter Concert on December 1.

Here is the schedule for this week:

Monday – Marching Band Returns from Hershey, PA – No after school rehearsal

Tuesday – No after school rehearsal

Wednesday – No Rehearsal

Thursday – Full Marching Band Rehearsal (2:30PM-4:45PM)

Friday – Half Day for students.  (No rehearsal)
Football Game against Kent Island HS. (Report @ 5:45PM)

2011 ACC’s Results

Tonight the Marching Lions Band once again showed why they are truly the “Pride of the Eastern Shore” as they gave an outstanding ACC’s performance.  Coming into today’s performance, the band was ranked at #12 coming out of Chapter Championships last weekend.  Tonight they come home still #12 and increasing their score another 2.05 points for a season finish of 89.1.  This is also the highest T.O.B. Score in the history of the school/band.

After an exciting weekend for the Marching Band, this week is filled with much anticipation as we prepare to attend the Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, PA.  The Symphonic Band continues its preparations for the Winter Concert in December while the Concert Band will continue its preparations for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony downtown next month as well as get a start on the music for their portion of the Winter Concert.

Chapter 9 Championships 10/22/11 Details

The 2011 Chapter 9 Championships is being held at Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, DE.  The show for Groups 3 and 1 begins at 1:00PM.  Tickets are available for purchase from Mr. Wright .  The cost of tickets will be $7 for Adults and $5 for Students and Sr. Citizens.

This week is a short week for school, but a busy week all the same.  Due to the furlough day for teachers on Thursday and the state teachers convention on Friday, we have a three day week.  However, things are really heating up for the Marching Band due to the Chapter 9 Championships being held this weekend.

Parkside HS TOB 10/15/11 Results

Last night the Marching Lions Band once again knocked the socks off of their audience as they gave an outstanding performance.  This was our 3rd competition of the season.  After a week of continual cleaning, the kids gave a performance that earned them another increase in score by 2.55 points for score of 84.55.  This score is not only the highest score of the season, but also the highest score the band has earned since making it’s return back to T.O.B. nine seasons ago.  In addition to getting a 1st place finish over Chesapeake HS, the Marching Lions brought home the honor of Best Percussion.

Next weekend, the band will travel to Appoquinimink HS in Middletown, Delaware for the Chapter 9 Championships.

Update for the Week of 10/10/11 – 10/15/11

This week is going to be a particularly busy week as the Marching Band continues their push towards Chapters and ACC’s.  The Symphonic Band will present the 10th Annual Pops Concert in conjunction with the Concert Choir and Dance Classes on Thursday.

William Penn HS TOB 10/8/11 Results

Last night the Marching Lions Band attended their second competition.  With two weeks off due to homecoming last Saturday, it gave us time to clean up our visuals and begin work at cleaning drill sets.  The kids proved that hard work in their performance that earned them an increase in their score by 5.55 points for a score of 82.00.  In addition to getting a 1st place finish over Brandywine HS, the Marching Lions brought home the honors of Best Drum Major and Best Percussion.
