Update for the Week of 11/4/24 – 11/8/24 (Revised)

Status

Today and tomorrow all schools and the central office is closed for a staff furlough day and election day. This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue with their final preparations for the Veterans Day Ceremony performance next Monday. Just a reminder that we will be wearing the “Informal” Concert Attire made up of black dress pants, slacks, or skirt and a white button-down dress shirt or blouse with black closed-toed dress shoes. This Friday is the due date for the Spring Trip Permission Slip and Deposit. Due to several conflicts that were created for myself and other members of our Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble, as a result of the change of the playoff game from Friday night to Thursday night and now back to Friday night in a matter of 2 days, that ensemble will not be in attendance at this week’s home playoff game.

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands continue their preparations for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony performance in two weeks. They will have a “B Lunch” Rehearsal on Thursday in order to meet during a common time and put all members of what will be called the Combined Concert Band together to rehearse one of the four selections that they will perform. Next week they will continue the same practice in order to continue their preparations on each of the three days that we will be in school. A required permission slip will be going home with the students today and needs to be returned by the end of the week. We will also need someone to volunteer to pull the Band Trailer that morning in order for us to get all of our needed equipment and stands downtown and back again. Please reach out to Mr. Wright if you are able and willing to do this for us.

Last week the Lions Band Jacket order forms were made available for students to pick up to order one of our band jackets to show their Lions Band pride and keep warm this winter. Here is a digital form: 2024 BAND JACKET ORDER FORM

Looking ahead to next week: Monday and Tuesday, schools will be closed. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be “B Lunch” Rehearsals for the Combined Concert Band in preparation for Veterans Day. Thursday evening we will have our November Band Parents Meeting via Zoom. Friday is the due date for the Spring Trip Permission Slip and Deposit.

Update for the Week of 10/21/24 – 10/25/24

Today, the Joe Corbi’s Fundraiser is due to be turned in to Mr. Wright. This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both the Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th and our Winter Concert on December 4th.

As we look ahead to the next couple of weeks, we will have our November Band Parents Meeting on Thursday, November 7th at 7:00 via Zoom (a link will be sent out that week), and the Hershey Spring Trip deposit and permission slip are due on or before Friday, November 8th. Looking ahead to the Veterans Day Ceremony performance, the students will be wearing the “Informal Uniform” dress as outlined in the course syllabus which is made up of a white dress shirt or blouse and black pants or skirt with black dress shoes.

There are no after-school ensemble rehearsals this week.

Today, the Joe Corbi’s Fundraiser will be made available for pick up by all band members. Sales will continue through October 21st. The Concert and Symphonic Bands are continuing to work music for their upcoming performance at the Centreville Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th as well as the Winter Concert on December 4th. The Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble and Marching Lions Band will be busy with the various Homecoming activities that include Mass Band rehearsal on Thursday evening, Pep Rally on Friday afternoon, and then the Parade, Mass Band Pregame, Game, and Halftime on Saturday.

This week, the Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to work on their music for Veterans Day. The Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard ensemble will continue cleaning up their show in anticipation of finally performing at homecoming after not getting to perform this past Friday night due to the rain. Thursday night will be our October Parent Meeting.

Looking ahead to next week, the Marching Lions will have their mass band rehearsal with the two middle school marching bands on Thursday night, perform at the Pep Rally on Friday, and then in the parade with the alumni members, followed by the mass band Pre-Game performance, and in the stands during the game on Saturday. Then the Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard Ensemble will present their show at halftime at the game as well.

Thank you to those students who attended our first-ever Lions Band Game Night this past Friday. It was a fun evening for everyone and has been requested that we do another again in the future. This week, the Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to work on their music for Veterans Day in November. The Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard ensemble will perform their first half-time show at the first home football game on Friday night.

This week will be our first full week of school. The Concert and Symphonic Bands are busy working on their music for Veterans Day in November. The Outdoor Percussion and Color Guard ensemble will continue to work at putting the last movement of their field production on the field in anticipation of the first home football game in two weeks. On Tuesday evening and Saturday morning, we will hold our next two Alumni Band Rehearsals in preparation for Homecoming.

The packets containing the audition information for Jr. and Sr. All-State Band auditions will be available in the band room. Please be sure to pick up a packet if you are interested in auditioning.

Today we are enjoying the end of our four-day Labor Day weekend. This week we will begin working on the music that we are going to perform for the Centreville Veterans Day Ceremony in November. On Thursday, we will have our first monthly Band Parents Meeting in the band room at 7:00 PM. We encourage everyone to join us so that we can discuss the various plans and events for the year.
