Update for the Week of 4/28/25 – 5/2/25

This week we will continue to prepare for our Spring Concert which is Thursday night, as the Concert and Symphonic Bands will have a “B Lunch” rehearsal both today and tomorrow and then dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, we will have our last Marching Band Rehearsal that evening as next week we will begin our rehearsals on Monday nights in May. On Tuesday, the Jazz Band will have rehearsal in preparation for the Night of Jazz concert that is next week.

Next week, we will have the Night of Jazz concert on Wednesday at CMS and a Booster Meeting on Thursday in the Band Room.

This week we are enjoying a much-needed week off for spring break after the busy weeks that we have had over the past couple of months. This will give us a chance to recharge just a bit and be ready for the final push into the end of this year. We have a busy set of weeks coming up as we work to get ready for the Spring Concert, our Night of Jazz, and Tea Party Parade. We will also begin to shift gears and look forward to the excitement of what next year can bring as we begin our spring clinics and training camps for the 2025-2026 Marching Lions Band.

Update for the Week of 4/7/25 – 4/11/25

Congratulations to all of the members of the 2025 All-Shore Honor Bands, including those from QACHS, that presenting their concert this past Saturday afternoon at Wicomico High School. It was an outstanding evening of Music presented by both the Junior and Senior bands.

This week is our last week of school before being off for 10 days of Spring Break. The Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to prepare for the Spring Concert on May 1, the Jazz Band continues to prepare for the 2025 Night of Jazz that will be on May 7, and the Marching Lions will hold their first rehearsal on Wednesday evening in preparation of the Chestertown Tea Party Parade on May 24. We are looking forward to welcoming the 12 SMS Students that will be joining us for the rehearsals and parade.

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to prepare for the Spring Concert. The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert. The members of the 2025 Sr. All-Shore Band will rehearse throughout the day on Friday and again Saturday morning with the concert Saturday afternoon at Wicomico High School. Thursday evening will also be the April Booster meeting.

Next week: We will begin our Marching Band Rehearsals on Wednesday from 6-8PM, in preparation for the Chestertown Tea Party Parade.

Update for the Week 3/24/25 – 3/28/25

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands continue to prepare for our Spring Concert on May 1st. The Jazz Band will begin to prepare for the QACHS Night of Jazz with the start of their Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals this week. This Friday will be a half day of school for the students.

Looking ahead to April, the Marching Lions Band will begin its preparation for the Chestertown Tea Party Parade with weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6-8 PM, beginning on the 9th, in order to accomodate the invited 8th grade students that will be joining us for this perfomrance. Once we move into the month of May, the rehearsals will switch to Mondays at the same time.

The Combined Concert Band did “Excellent” last week at District Band Festival. This week, we will listen to the judges comments as a part of our reflection and preparation for performing the same three pieces on the Spring Concert in May. This will be our last week of no after school rehearsals as the Jazz Band will start its rehearsals next week in preparation for the Jazz Concert in May and will have rehearsals on both Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

2025 Maryland District V Band Festival Results

Today, the Combined Concert Band traveled to North Dorchester High School to perform and be assessed at the Maryland District V Band Festival. They gave an excellent performance that earned them just that, an overall rating of “Excellent” made up of three “Excellent” ratings for their stage performance and a rating of “Superior” for their Sight-Reading assessment.

This week we will head to Hurlock, MD for District Band Festival at North Dorchester High School. We will have a regular class rehearsal today, and then a “B” Lunch rehearsal tomorrow. Students will attend their 1st period class on Wednesday before reporting to the band room for our final rehearsal and preparations for the day. We will be wearing our Concert Uniforms, so students will need to bring the appropriate items that go along with their Tuxedo (White Button Down Dress Shirt, Black Socks, and Black Dress Shoes) or Gown (Black Closed Toed Shoes). We will also need to bring a bagged lunch for that day as we will be eating after we arrive due to the schedule of events for the day.

After having a very good morning at Solo and Ensemble Festival last Thursday, we now shift our focus 100% to getting ready for District Band Festival that will be next Wednesday. The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations during their regular class times on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and by adding combined rehearsals during “B” Lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. There will also be a Booster Meeting in the Band Room Thursday night.

Taking a look ahead to next week, we will have another combined rehearsal during “B” Lunch on Tuesday and then head to North Dorchester High School on Wednesday for District Band Festival.
