Well, it’s been since the first part of December since we have had a blog post.  A lot has happened since that time including, Winter Break/Christmas and New Year’s, High School Assessments, and Final Exams.  Now we are ready for the downhill run to the end of the year as we begin our second semester tomorrow.

We have also been late at recording and posting January’s Podcast.  We had our first snow day when it was to be done and then we went right in to HSA’s and then Final Exams.  So, I was able to record just a quick little broadcast to bring everyone up to speed and then we will do a full show for February in a couple weeks.  So, for the latest podcast, visit us on I-tunes if you haven’t already and subscribe.  If you have already subscribed to our podcast, then simply refresh your list of podcasts and it should download automatically for you.

Just shortly after 3:00 PM today, the folks at Disney sent an e-mail confirming our acceptance to perform at Walt Disney World as a part of the Disney Magic Music Days.  The band will be performing on the Waterside Stage at the Downtown Disney Market Place, at a time to be determined, on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010.

Well, after such a busy week last week, this week looks to be quite quiet.  The only thing that is on our schedule this week is the band booster meeting that will be held at 7:00PM in the Band Room.  This will be an important meeting as they will be taking nominations for new officers to be voted on in January.  Please come out and get involved.

There are no rehearsals after school now until we begin Pit Orchestra on the Monday that we return from Winter Break in January.  The date for the start of Pit Orchestra is January 4, 2010.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

I just want to take a moment to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I feel very thankful for the wonderful group of students that I teach everyday that are a part of the QACHS Band Family and to all of the parent volunteers that give of themselves to help us do what we do each year.  I hope everyone will have a very Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and will take time to reflect on how fortunate we all are to have the freedoms that we do.

For those that want to keep up with our monthly Podcast series, “From the Band Room at Queen Anne’s County HS”, can now find us on I-Tunes and subscribe to get the newest episode each month with out having to do a thing.  Wednesday evening I created a podcast account on podOmatic.com, which allows us to have a live feed to subscribe to.  After completing that step, I was then able to submit a request to be a part of the I-Tunes Store on Thursday evening.  It then must be reviewed by I-Tunes for appropriate content and then be granted acceptance into the I-Tunes Community.  I received the e-mail from them today saying that we have been accepted.  This is an exciting step for us in providing information about the band program.

Below are the links to the two locations that the podcast can be found, podOmatic.com and the I-Tunes Store.

From the Band Room – Episode Two – November 6, 2009

In this show we will take a look back at what the band accomplished in October. Brittany and Becca join me once again to bring our coming events. I will share more moments in both Classical Music History as well as Pop Music History. This month our spotlight is on the Freshman Concert Band as they go through one of their last rehearsals for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony that they will play for on November 11th in front of the Queen Anne’ s County Courthouse in downtown Centreville. The final selection also features that Queen Anne’s County Concert Choir as we did a combined rehearsal of the patriotic piece that we will perform together.
