Update for the Week of 5/13/24 – 5/17/24

This week we continue our push to the end of the year as we continue our playing exams during class time.  There will be no school on Tuesday as schools are closed for the Maryland Primary Election.  We will have our Annual Percussion and Color Guard Clinic on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

As we look ahead to next week, there will be a Marching Band Rehearsal for the Tea Party Parade on Monday.  We will have our awards day during each band’s class time on Wednesday.  Seniors will take their written exam on Thursday.  We will also have our 2024 Marching Lions Band Mini-Camp on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  The Marching Band will march in the Chestertown Tea Party Parade on Saturday morning.

This past weekend we traveled to Pigeon Forge, TN for our annual band trip and participated in the Music in the Parks’ Dollywood Festival.  The Combined Concert Band and the Marching Lions Band each presented performances.  The Combined Concert Band received a rating of “Good” and was awarded 1st place in the HS Group AA Concert Band I category.  The Marching Band received a rating of “Excellent” and was awarded 1st place in the HS Parade Band Category.

As we continue our push towards the end of the year this week, the Concert and Symphonic Bands will begin their final exam playing exams and working on the information for the written exam that they will take in a few weeks.  We will also have the 2024 Queen Anne’s County High School Night of Jazz on Wednesday at 7:00PM at Centreville Middle School.  Thursday evening will be our May Band Parents meeting at 7:00PM in the Band Room.

As we look ahead: Next week we will continue our final exam playing exams and have the Percussion and Color Guard Clinic from 6 -8PM on Wednesday, May 15th.  In two weeks we will have Senior Exams and 0ur final Marching Band rehearsal on Monday, May 2oth for the Chestertown Tea Party Parade on Saturday of that week.  We will also have our 2024 Marching Band Mini-Camp nights on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week, from 6 -8PM.  The following week, will be the 2024 QACHS Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday.

This week we have a very busy and exciting week as we hold “B Lunch” combined rehearsals for the Combined Concert Band members that will be a part of this ensemble in Tennessee on Friday.  Today we will have our last Marching Band rehearsal in preparation for their performance on Saturday.  The Jazz Band will have its last regular Jazz Band rehearsal in preparation for the QACHS Night of Jazz next week.

Looking ahead to next week, we will have our Night of Jazz at 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Centreville Middle School and our May Band Parents meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday.

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands will put the finishing touches on the selections for the Spring Concert.  They will have a “B Lunch” rehearsal today and tomorrow, dress rehearsal during 3rd period on Wednesday, and the Spring Concert at 6:00PM on Thursday.  The Marching Band will have a rehearsal today in preparation for both the concert this week and their performance in Tennessee next week.  The Jazz Band will only have rehearsal on Tuesday as they prepare for their own concert in two weeks.

Congratulations to the 4 students who represented QACHS Saturday evening as members of the 2024 Senior All-Shore Honors Band! It was an outstanding evening of live music presented by both the Junior and Senior bands at Easton High School as the Junior Band celebrated 45 years and the Senior Band, 60 years.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances on the Spring Concert next week and in Tennessee in two weeks.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in three weeks for the 2024 QACHS Night of Jazz.

The final trip information packet went home with everyone on Tuesday.  Included in this packet are the final details letter and the Emergency Medical Form.  The Emergency Medical Form needs to be filled out and returned by the end of next week so that we can get them all organized in the medical binder that we are required to carry.  Each person attending the trip must have one of these forms turned in and included.

The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both of their upcoming performances on the Spring Concert in two weeks as well as in Tennessee in three weeks.  The Marching Band will continue its preparations for its performances on the Spring Concert, at the Parade Review in Tenessee, and the Chestertown Tea Party Parade.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in four weeks for the QACHS Night of Jazz.  Thursday we will have the April Band Parents meeting where we will go over details for the trip to TN at the beginning of next month.  Below is the schedule for the All-Shore Rehearsals on Friday and Saturday as well as the concert, all being held at Easton High School.

This week we are enjoying a much-needed week off for spring break after the busy weeks that we have had over the past couple of months.  This will give us a chance to recharge just a bit and be ready for the final push into the end of this year.   We have a busy set of weeks coming up as we work to get ready for the Spring Concert, the trip to Tennessee, and our Night of Jazz.  We will then begin to shift gears and look forward to the excitement of what next year can bring as we begin our spring clinics and training camps for the 2024-2025 Marching Lions Band.

This week we are on the countdown to Spring Break that will begin on Friday.  The Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for both, their performance on the Spring Concert in four weeks and in Tennessee in five weeks.  The Jazz ensemble continues its preparations for the Jazz Concert in six weeks for the QACHS Night of Jazz.  The Marching Band is also preparing for the Spring Concert, its Parade Review performance in Tennessee, as well as the Chestertown Tea Party that will be May 25th.
