This past weekend we traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for our annual band trip and participated in North American Music Festivals’ Cleveland/Cedar Point Festival. The Combined Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Lions Band all presented performances and received ratings of “Excellent”.
This week things will slow down a great deal as there will be no after school rehearsals or special rehearsals during the day. We will begin to prepare for final exams since the seniors will have to take their exams next week and all students will begin their performance portion of their final exams.

This week is going to be a very busy week as we have a Band Booster Meeting tonight, Jazz Concert Tuesday, Combined Rehearsal Wednesday, and take our Band Trip to Ohio Thursday – Sunday.

Today the combined concert band (Symphonic and Freshmen Concert) traveled to Morgan State University for State Band Festival. The band gave an outstanding performance that earned them three “Excellent” ratings for their stage performance, as well as a “Superior” rating for sight reading. This means that the band received an overall “Excellent” rating for their performances today.

This week we will have a bit of a busy week with dress rehearsal, State Band Festival, and Spring Concert.
Next week, we will have a Booster Meeting on Monday, Jazz Concert on Tuesday, and leave for Ohio on Thursday.
The final details letter that will include the trip itinerary along with the Emergency Medical form to be filled out and returned should go home with the students before the end of the week. Our final details from the festival are to be received by the middle of the week. The festival has been delayed in sending this information out due to waiting on some final details from the performance site. So, please keep an eye out for this letter.

This week we continue our preparations for all of the up coming performances. The Concert and Symphonic Bands work to get ready for both State Band festival and Spring Concert next week and Ohio the next week. They will have a combined rehearsal during “A” Lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. The Jazz Band is working to be ready for the 9th Annual QACHS Night of Jazz two weeks from Tuesday as well as their performance in Ohio the same week. The Marching Band is working to be ready for their performance at the Spring Concert next week, their performance in Ohio the next week, and the Chestertown Tea Party Parade and Centreville Memorial Day Parade on May 26th. Information will also be given to the Middle School Directors this week to distribute to 8th Grade students about the Percussion and Guard Clinic that will be 6-8 on Wednesday, May 23rd as well as the details for the Mini-Band Camp on Tuesday – Thursday, May 29 – 31.
Permission slips for State Band festival will go home with the kids on Tuesday and should be returned by Friday.
Looking ahead to next week, we will have dress rehearsal during 3rd period on Tuesday, State Band Festival all day Wednesday, and the Spring Concert at 7:30PM on Thursday.

This week we will only have four days of school due to a Teacher Professional Development Day on Friday. We will begin our Marching Band rehearsals today in preparation for the Spring Concert, Ohio, and the upcoming parades next month.

Well, today is the last day of the long four day weekend called “Spring Break”. We have a busy week ahead as we look forward to hosting all of the members of the 2012 Jr. and Sr. All-Shore Bands as they rehearse throughout the day on Friday and again Saturday afternoon with the concert Saturday evening.
Looking ahead to next week, we will start Marching Rehearsals on Mondays after school. This will give us three rehearsals before the Spring Concert on May 3rd and four rehearsals before he head to Ohio on May 10th.

This week will be a bit of a short and choppy week since we are in school today, out tomorrow, in Wednesday and Thursday, and out Friday. We are all looking forward to a bit of “Spring Break” with the four day weekend next weekend as well as Easter. This week we will also have a Booster meeting on Wednesday.
Next week the Color Guard will have practice after school on Tuesday, then the rest of the Marching Band will come back together on the following Monday.

This week, we finally get a chance to catch our breath after a very busy and performance filled couple of weeks. The combined Concert/Symphonic Band did very well last week at District Band Festival. This week, we continue to listen to the judges comments as a part of our reflection and preparation for State Band Festival, Spring Concert, and Cleveland. The Jazz Band started rehearsals again last week and we will continue this week with rehearsals both Tuesday and Thursday after school. Wednesday, the Gianni’s Fundraiser will be available for pick-up from 2:20 – 5:00 PM. All products need to be refrigerated as soon as possible, so it is important that all items be picked up as soon as possible. Any items not picked up by 5:00 will be donated to a local food bank.
Several folks have been asking about when Marching Band is going to begin its rehearsals for the upcoming Spring Concert, Cleveland, and Parades. We will hold rehearsals on Mondays beginning the week after we return from Spring Break. The Color Guard will be meeting with Carley beginning the Tuesday (the day) that we return to school from Spring Break.
