Update for the Week of 10/31/22 – 11/6/22

Today is a Teacher Professional Development day, so the kids are enjoying an extended weekend.  This week, the Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for the Veterans Day Ceremony next Friday and the Winter Concert on November 30th.  The Marching Band will have a full rehearsal after school tomorrow as well as Thursday and Friday with a Home Football Playoff Game Friday night.  There will be a Band Parent Meeting this Thursday at 7:00PM. Saturday the Marching Band will report in for a 2:00PM Rehearsal before packing everything up in preparation for Sunday’s departure for Hershey, PA, and the T.O.B. Atlantic Coast Championships.

Looking ahead to next week; we will begin Jazz Band rehearsals after school on Thursday.

Update for the Week of 10/24/22 – 10/28/22

Today, the Symphonic and Concert Bands will have Dress Rehearsal for the Pops Concert during 3rd period.  Tuesday will be the Pops Concert at 7:30PM.  The Marching Lions will be off the road this weekend, but will be working these next two weeks to prepare for the Atlantic Coast Championships at Hersheypark Stadium in two weeks.

Just a reminder that the Spring Band Trip paperwork and deposits were due this past Friday.  If you have not turned any of this in, please do so ASAP so that we can confirm the possibility of this trip and get monthly payment information out.  We can still use more chaperones as well.

Region 9 Championships 10/22/22 Results

Last night the Mighty Marching Lions Band traveled back to Lake Forest High School for the TOB Region 9 Championships. After presenting their best performance of the season, they improved their score 9.1 points from their first show 4 weeks ago, 4.9 points from their second show 2 weeks ago for a Championship score of 84.6 that gave them a 2nd place finish in the Group 1 Open category. Along with that, they earned the award for 1st Place Music, 1st Place Percussion, 2nd Place Visual, and 2nd Place Color Guard.

Update for the Week of 10/17/22 – 10/22/22

This week the Concert and Symphonic Band will have their final week of preparations for the Pops Concert next Tuesday.  The Marching Lions will travel to Lake Forest High School in Felton, DE for the Chapter 9 Championships on Saturday.  Because Friday is a Professional Development day for Teachers, the Marching Band will report in on their own, at 2:30PM for rehearsal until 5:00PM.

Two Reminders:

1) All Joe Corbi’s Fund Raiser Order Form Orders were due this past Friday.  If there is anyone that did not turn their order in, they must be turned in to Mr. Wright today in order to be processed.  However, online orders can still be placed through the day tomorrow.

2) All Spring Trip Permission Slips and Deposits are due to Mr. Wright by this Friday 10/21.

Region 9 Championships 10/22/22 Details

The 2021 Region 9 Championships is being held at Lake Forest High School in Felton, DE. Chapter Championships will be held in two parts and will start with the A Class Bands at 2:00PM and conclude with the A Class Awards. Open Class Bands will begin at 6:00PM and conclude with the Open Class Awards. Tickets are available for purchase from Mr. Wright . The cost of tickets will be $12 for Adults and $10 for Students and Sr. Citizens.  While we will still get to keep a small portion of the money for our program, the rest of the money will be turned in to help go towards the scholarships that are awarded to qualifying Seniors.  I have been given plenty of tickets for this show as QA has been the top selling group for the pre-sale tickets in past years.  So, be sure to send in your envelope requesting the number of tickets that you would like, along with the payment.

Update for the Week of 10/10/22 – 10/15/22

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands will continue their preparations for the Pops Concert in two weeks.  The Marching Lions will have their last regular season home football game on Friday night and then be off the road this weekend due to no local regional shows.  However, they will have a rehearsal Saturday morning.

Colonel Richardson HS T.O.B. 10/8/22 Results

Last night the Marching Lions Band traveled to Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg, MD for their second competition of the season.  They gave another great performance after two weeks of hard work that earned them a score of 79.7 and a tied second-place finish with Lake Forest High School Spartan Marching Band.  Next week the Marching Lions Band will be off the road for the week, but working for their performance at the TOB Chapter 9 Championships in two weeks.

This week the Concert and Symphonic Bands are continuing to prepare for the Pops Concert that is in three weeks.   On Thursday evening at 7:00 PM, we will have our October Band Parents meeting.  Please plan to attend so that you can find out the latest details of what we have going on, and what we have coming up, as well as the spring trip to Virginia.  Saturday, the Marching Lions are headed to Federalsburg, MD as they attend the Colonel Richardson High School T.O.B. competition.
