Here is a repost of the post from last week that includes the schedule for this week:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will be Marching Band Rehearsals in preparation for the Winter Concert and the Centreville Christmas Parade.

Tuesday will be the final Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal and the recording session for the Ensemble Spotlight for the December Podcast.

Wednesday, December 2nd – Dress Rehearsal for the Winter Concert during 4th Period.

Thursday, December 3rd – Winter Concert beginning with the Jazz Ensemble in Lobby at 7:00PM and the formal concert in the John F. Andrews Performing Arts Center at 7:30PM. Jazz Ensemble Students need to arrive at 6:30PM and Marching, Concert, and Symphonic Band Students need to arrive at 6:45 PM to get dressed in Tuxes and Gowns.

Friday, December 4th - Centreville Christmas Parade will step off from QACHS at 6:30PM. Students will need to report back from dinner at 5:45PM to get dressed and ready for line-up.

I just want to take a moment to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. I feel very thankful for the wonderful group of students that I teach everyday that are a part of the QACHS Band Family and to all of the parent volunteers that give of themselves to help us do what we do each year. I hope everyone will have a very Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and will take time to reflect on how fortunate we all are to have the freedoms that we do.

Now for the upcoming events:

The schedule for this week is a little thinner than the past few weeks as we begin to slow things down just a bit.

2009 Atlantic Coast Invitational Championship Champions!!!!!!!

This morning, the Marching Lions Band competed in the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Invitational Championship Competition for the fourth consecutive year in a row. The band finished their competition season with a season high score of 82.00. This earned them the title of the “2009 Atlantic Coast Invitational Championship Group 1 Champions” as they took first place over all. They also were awarded the Specialty Awards of 1^st Place Music, 1^st Place Visual, 1^st Place Drum Major, and 1^st Place Color Guard.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discounted rate over the gate price. Adults $15 and Students $12.

For those Parents that have reserved a room in our hotel block, the total cost of each room will be $76.59.

We have also included all of those staying with us in our dinner reservations and that cost will be $13.03 per person.

Chapter 9 Championships Results

Today, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Broadneck High School for the Chapter 9 Championships. It had been postponed until Sunday from Saturday due to the weather. The Marching Lions gave it all they had and finished 2nd out of 4 in Group 1 Championship competition. They also took specialty awards for 2nd Place Drum Major, 2nd Place Color Guard, 2nd Place Music, 2nd Place Visual with a final regular season score of 79.1. They have finished 29th over all in the Tournament of Bands Competition circuit which qualifies them for a fourth year in a row to attend the Atlantic Coast Championships in Hershey, PA this coming Sunday.

Chapter 9 Championships Have Been Postponed and Moved to Sunday!

As was announced at the end of rehearsal on Thursday, due to the impending severe weather for Saturday, part or all of the show could be postponed until Sunday. After everyone left today, I had a chance to log back into my e-mail and found out that Chapters had indeed been moved to Sunday. I know that various sacrifices have to be made to make this happen. Remember, I am in this with you and so the Eastern Shore Wind Ensemble will be without their 1st Trombone for their concert on Sunday afternoon. But, the bottom line comes down to this…..If we don’t go Sunday, we don’t goto Hershey next weekend and so you will have done two shows and that is it after all the work we have done since last May. Times are to remain the same on Sunday as they were to be for Saturday. See below for those details.

2009 William Penn HS “Tournament of Champions” Results

Last night, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Wilmington, Delaware to participate in the William Penn High School “Tournament of Champions” TOB Competition held at Frawley Stadium. Although they Marching Lions were once again the only Group 1 band to perform, they went out and gave it all they had in hopes of increasing their score over two weeks ago. As a result, they did just that. They finished the night with a score of 75.55.

We will be working this week to improve that as we travel to Salisbury, Maryland to compete in the Parkside HS “Delmarvacade of Bands” TOB Competition held at Wicomico County Stadium next to Wicomico High School.
