This week, we played host to 7 Group 2 Bands, 1 Group 1 Band, 4 Group 3 Bands, and the Frostburg State University Wildcat Marching Band.  Although we didn’t perform in competition, we did do a judged exhibition performance which means that the process is all the same as other shows except there isn’t a placement for our score.  We were able to pull ourselves out of a deficit from two weeks ago as we fell back 2.2 points.  This week, we came back 2.65 points over that score to achieve our season high so far at a 79.85 points.  The percussion, color guard, and Rachel (drum major) all scored well in their specialty areas as well.  Next week we are headed to Frawley Stadium (home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks Minor League Baseball Team) in Wilmington, Delaware for the Concord High School’s “Preview of Champions” Competition.

Saturday, the Marching Lions Band traveled to Broadneck High School, in Annapolis, Maryland  for their second competition of the season hosted by Severna Park High School. After a week of hard work, they gave an outstanding performance putting into place those things that we had worked on.  However, as we do from time to time, we ran into a tough panel of judges that didn’t quite agree on what we were doing.  In the end the band received a score of 77.2.  This unfortunately is a drop of 2.2 points from last week’s score.  They placed 5th out of 8 bands.

This week the band will perform for the various Homecoming events.
